Anubis Weighs Things Carefully

This is from a Romanian book on the history of printing, which featured many alphabets and typescripts from Sumerian to Old Church Slavonic, and many others.

I recently read the book American Gods by Neil Gaiman, and when I saw this picture I immediately knew what was taking place. Anubis, the jackyl-headed god, weighs the soul of a recently dead person on his karmic scale. If the person was cruel and committed many wrongs in their life, then it outweighs the feather and is immediately eaten up by the hungry monster in the picture. But if the person's soul is in balance with the feather, then they are allowed into the underworld of the dead to meet with their loved ones. Wow what a fantastic scene!

Detective Novels from Argentina

I came across these hard-boiled American and English detective novels. These were Spanish translations published by TOR, an Argentine publishing company. Their covers are just great. So pulpy and dramatic. They make me want to start painting again. What I especially love about them are that they are action shots, almost like film noir movie posters from the 1940s.
